A healthy soil is one of the most important elements for a successful cultivation and deserves therefore our necessary attention. Most of our parcels are campine sandy soils, typical for the area, varying with some parcels of loamy soil.
Most of our planting and grubing are done in winter. That time of year we usually have a lot of rain, so extra caution is advised for the soil cultivation.
A sufficiently high level of humus provides a better cultivating capacity and soil structure. To maintain this level of humus we use certified green compost www.vlaco.be
Using green manure like mustard, fodder radish and Phacelia also has a good influence on the soil organisms and humus level. Bees are strongly attracted to flowering cover crop like e.g. Phacelia.
